Winds, Showers, and a Cold Snap Across the Australian Alps

Summary

Strong winds and storms will dominate Friday and Saturday, affecting lift operations, with calmer, sunnier conditions arriving Sunday and Monday before winds and showers return Tuesday as another storm passes through.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Friday 26th & Saturday 27th September

Friday will be windy with gale northwesterlies, cloudy skies, and occasional drizzle, especially in Victoria, while New South Wales sees brighter conditions with possible afternoon drizzle. Saturday will bring mostly sunny skies but continued strong northwesterly winds, reaching gale force in exposed areas.

Forecast for Sunday 28th & Monday 29th September

Sunday brings calmer westerly winds with mixed sun and cloud after early rain, while Monday offers mostly sunny skies with a northwest breeze and evening showers in Victoria.

Forecast for Tuesday 30th September

Tuesday will see rain showers and strong-gale northwesterly winds from a passing storm system.

Extended Forecast

Strong westerly winds, showers, and colder temperatures with snow on mid-to-lower slopes are expected through early October as frontal systems cross the Australian Alps.
