More Powder Wed to Thu from Northern Storm

Summary

After sunshine and a light top-up, warm northwest winds softened snow before heavy rain and thunderstorms hit Sunday night. Showers clear Monday but winds ease Tuesday. On Wednesday, rain turns to snow as cold southerlies arrive, with 10–20 cm likely and up to 30 cm on higher slopes before easing Thursday. Friday looks ideal with fresh powder, fine weather, and lighter winds.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Monday 8th & Tuesday 9th September

Rain clears Monday leaving clouds and strong northwest gales, while Tuesday brings a mix of sun and cloud with easing winds.

Forecast for Wednesday 10th to Friday 12th September

On Wednesday, a low brings rain and high-level snow that lowers to the base by afternoon, with heavy falls expected as cold southeast winds strengthen. Thursday clears to partly cloudy skies with easing southerlies, though Mt Baw Baw may see lingering snow showers. Friday stays mostly sunny and ideal for skiing, aside from extra cloud, stronger southwest winds, and a few showers in western Victoria and Mt Baw Baw.

Extended Forecast

A settled Saturday (13th September) gives way to stronger northwest winds Sunday (14th September), with storms early next week bringing rain then snow, and another possible snowstorm later in the week.
