Next Storm Cycle Arrives Sunday, Doesn't Turn Cold & Snowy Till Late Tue

Summary

Windy weather midweek limited lifts, but snow showers dropped to low levels by Thursday with about 10 cm at Perisher. High pressure brings two fine days Friday and Saturday, before Sunday turns stormy with strong northwest winds and rain. Showers linger Monday and Tuesday, but a late cold change Tuesday should deliver a fresh powder top-up.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Friday 5th & Saturday 6th September

Friday and Saturday bring fine, sunny weather to the Australian Alps, with easing southerlies followed by light northwest winds and some high cloud.

Forecast for Sunday 7th to Tuesday 9th September

Sunday brings strengthening northwesterlies and heavy rain as a front moves east across Victoria and New South Wales. Monday is partly sunny with strong northwest winds and a few showers. On Tuesday, another front delivers widespread rain and gales before a cold southwest change brings uncertain but likely snowfall to low levels.

Extended Forecast

Snow may linger midweek under cold winds, though amounts are uncertain and vary widely. High pressure is likely to bring settled weather by next weekend.
