A Dusting Up High For Wed, More From Fri Night to Low Levels

Summary

After several days of clear skies, good snow-making, and soft afternoon turns, a weak front on Wednesday brings light snow up high and rain lower down. High pressure returns Thursday before strengthening northwesterlies on Friday, followed by a front Friday night with rain and high snow. A cold westerly change on Saturday will then deliver snow showers to low levels.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th August

A weak front will bring morning rain and high snow on Wednesday before clearing to fine spells, followed by a sunny Thursday as winds ease.

Forecast for Friday 15th to Sunday 17th August

Friday will see clouds thicken and gale-force northwesterlies ahead of a front, bringing afternoon rain and high snow that intensifies overnight. Cold westerlies on Saturday will deliver low-level snow and 5–15cm of fresh powder before clearing, with another front bringing more low snow and cold winds on Sunday.

Extended Forecast

Light snow is possible on Monday and Tuesday (18-19th) with cold temperatures for snow-making, before a settled spell gives way to a wet, windy storm late next week.

Thanks for reading. The next forecast will be out on Friday.
