Spring Skiing for Most Areas; Snow Showers for the Northwest and Northeast
Summary
Unseasonably warm temperatures along with dry conditions will continue for most of the West through the weekend, while cooler temperatures and snow showers can be expected across Western Canada and Washington. The Northeast will also hang onto a chilly pattern with frequent light snow showers & flurries, but no major storms are expected.
Short Term Forecast
An anomalously strong ridge of high pressure will remain in place over the Western U.S. from Wednesday to Sunday, resulting in record-challenging warmth once again, along with spring skiing conditions. Snowpack will continue to quickly decrease as a result.
The pattern will be a bit more active across the Northwest. An ongoing storm will continue to produce snow (and rain) from Western Canada into Washington on Wednesday, with additional snow showers possible in the days to follow.
The Northeast will continue to hang onto below-average temperatures overall, but snowfall will be on the lighter side for the rest of this week as a series of minor disturbances moves through. A brief warm-up on Thursday will also result in rain across New England.

Forecast for Wednesday (March 25):
Heavy snow and rain will fall across the Northwest and Western Canada early on Wednesday, with a transition to more intermittent snow showers (but with lower snow levels) during the day on Wednesday after a cold front moves through.
A storm will also track across the northern side of the Great Lakes with light to moderate snow developing across Ontario and Western Quebec. Only light snow showers/flurries are expected south of the U.S. border.

Forecast for Thursday (March 26):
Snow showers will continue across the Northwest with snow levels remaining low for most areas with a colder airmass in place.
Another storm will bring snow to Eastern Canada, with locally heavy snowfall possible around the Quebec City resorts, while New England will see a mix of snow and rain, with snow levels reaching ski resort summits in the warm sector of the storm.

Forecast for Friday (March 27):
The pattern will begin to dry out for most of the Northwest, but additional storms further north will keep snow chances going across the Central and Northern BC Coast Range. New England and Quebec will also see snow showers early on Friday as a storm departs.

Forecast for Saturday (March 28):
A quiet weather day is expected for most areas, aside from some snow showers across the Northern BC Coast Range, along with some spotty snow showers and flurries over the Northeast.

Forecast for Sunday (March 29):
A storm will reach Western Canada with light to moderate snow developing across the Coast Range and Interior of British Columbia. A storm will also move across Eastern Canada, bringing a quick shot of snow to Quebec.

Extended Forecast
Outlook for Mon (Mar 30) to Fri (Apr 3):
Next week is looking more interesting for the West as a slow-moving trough is projected to move across California into the Central Rockies. This will result in a gradual cooling trend along with a good chance of snow across the Sierra and the Rockies. Weaker disturbances are also projected to push into the Northwest.
The East will see a significant warming trend overall, but longer-range projections are hinting at a stormy signal across New England and Quebec with both rain and snow possible.

Thanks so much for reading! Next update on Friday.
